The latest release on Women on Wax Recordings is the sensual "The pickup" by Eric King previously released through Whasdat Music on Pirahnahead's "Aural" EP in August 2011. First up is Pirahnahead's groovy original production which uses a relentlessly thumpin' backdrop as playground for Eric King's enchanting spoken word poetry and lush keys. Next we have N'Dinga Gaba's hypnotizing rework taking the track to deepest territory, with throbbing rhythms leading the way for the vocals and enticing melodies. Finally, label head DJ Minx delivers a deep minimal take which puts the emphasis on the lyrics and percussive elements. A sure fire weapon to set the floor on fire... |
