AVE' "Inner City Blues (make me wanna holler)" (Silk Records CD Promo)

"Inner City Blues (make me wanna holler)" is a song by Marvin Gaye released as the third and final single from his 1971 landmark album "What's going on". The song was covered in the past by an illustrious list of artists such as Groover Washington Jr., Gil Scott-Heron, Joe Cocker, Angela Winbush and The Chi-Lites to name just a few. Up and rising AVE' (aka Alexia, Victoria and Emmanuel) together with Italian DJ/producer DJ Ermi present an utterly inspiring four-to-the-floor re-imagination of this unforgettable classic, undoubtedly the phenomenal gospel tinged vocals together with the grand jazzy keys and smooth yet thrilling organic rhythms are guaranteed to cast a spell on you.

Marc Evans "First kiss" (The Remixes)(Double Cheese Records CD Promo)

Past October, we've been celebrating the release of "First kiss", a marvelous soulful production produced by Luyo and Federico D'Alessio performed in grand style by Marc Evans. Spellband deliver what is best described as a soulful peak time anthem, with Marc Evans one-of-a-kind heartfelt vocals being accompanied by wicked keys and irresistibly vibrant rhythms. Fabio Tosti alongside production partner K-Max inject a serious dose of funk yet keeping the overall vibe soulful, and lastly N'Dinga Gaba contributes a masterly crafted interpretation on a fabulous organic jazz infused tip.

Ferry Ultra featuring Gwen McCrae "Let me do my thang" (Opolopo Remixes)(Peppermint Jam Records CD Promo)

Beginning of 2009 we've reviewed the original version "Let me do my thang" by Ferry Ultra, an old skool tinged soul-funk masterpiece on a mid-tempo tip, featuring the unmistakable vocals from the legendary Gwen McCrae. From Opolopo (Peter Major) come brand new remixes which turn the song into an absolutely irresistible funked-up boogie-esque dance floor bomb oozing with the incomparable beloved Opolopo sound. The hypnotizing dub gives the track a somewhat dirtier feel, not to forget to mention the left field jazz inspired "Jazzinezz" being included as a bonus track.

Tony Soul "Lets go" (JusVibe Records CD Promo)

Blade Deep and 4matiq team up with Tony Soul for "Lets go", a tribute to how a DJ connects with the dancer. "Lets go" is an utterly tempting slice of late night bliss, with deeper than deep relentlessly thumpin' rhythms leading the way for Tony Soul's inspiring vocals and glorious keys, altogether spreading a mesmerizing vibe you can't resist to dance to. In loving memory of Majory Smarth (RIP), a very important and pivotal figure in the house dance community.

S.A.N featuring Darian Crouse "Lord knows I do EP" (Cultured Records CD Promo)

South Africa's Cultured Records are about to release a real delight with the "Lord knows I do EP" by S.A.N and vocalist Darian Crouse. Quite simply, Darian Crouse's incomparable deeply rooted vocals together with the dazzling atmospheric melodies and riveting deep rhythms are guaranteed to send shivers down your spine. The remixes are courtesy of Urban Musique, Mr Boogie & Creso, Dima Studitsky and Rufus T, all adding their signature deep touch, making it next to impossible to pick a favorite version.

Marc Tasio "Soul in Love EP" (HSR Records CD Promo)

French DJ/producer Marc Tasio follows up his recent smash single "New love" with the stellar "Soul in Love EP" featuring brand new collaborations with Bibi Provence, Paula P'Cay and MJ White. Included on the EP are "Close to you" and "I thought you were my guy" both featuring Bibi Provence's passionate vocals, "Is it love" featuring the seductive vocals of Paula P'Cay and finally "Unconditional love" featuring the inimitable emotive vocals of MJ White. Each of these tracks is soulful yet full of uplifting energy, in other words what you get are four sure-fire prime time weapons guaranteed to send the floor into a frenzy.

Lilac Jeans featuring Kele B "Hold on" (Hood Natives Remixes)(Lilac Jeans Music CD Promo)

In late February we introduced you to the DJ Spen & Soulfuledge remixes of "Hold on" taken from Lilac Jeans highly acclaimed debut artist album "Now or never", now fresh remixes from Hood Natives have arrived. Their 'Deeper Club Mix' is an enticing deepened rework which combines the beautiful haunting vocals of Kele B with glamorous keys and gentle yet captivating rhythms, while the 'Soul Mix' is an enthralling smoothly thumpin' rendition laced with grandiose jazzy piano and luscious keys.

DJ Funky T featuring Lady Mya "The beast in you" (DeepStitched Records CD Promo)

DeepStitched Records grace us with a marvelous truly deepalicious gem courtesy of DJ Funk T entitled "The beast in you". Deep dulcet rhythms serve as playground for Lady Mya's tantalizing spoken word poetry and for lush keys and chords - sheer musical bliss. The likes of Forteba, Terry Lee Brown Jr, BDTom and DJ Funky T himself contribute the remixes, each of them adding his magical deep touch to give you plenty of choices to work the floor.

Pauline Henry "I got the feeling right" (Diamond in Venus Records CD Promo)

Soulful legend Pauline Henry (formerly of The Chimes) - remember her superb cover of the Diana Ross all-time classic "Love hangover" from 1995 remixed by Joey Negro and Todd Terry? - returns to the soulful oriented dance floors with "I got the feeling right" remixed by Frankstar (Frank Blythe) whose uplifting smoothly groovin' interpretation fueled with melodious chords and classy jazzy piano lets Pauline Henry's unmistakable vocals shine.

Richard Brooks featuring Tamika Boyce & Ali Black "Painless ways" (Remixes)(Strobe Records CD Promo)

Originally reviewed here on Spirit of House in September of last year, "Painless ways" by Richard Brooks (co-produced by Ali Black and featuring sweet vocals by songstress Tamika Boyce) returns in brand new remixes guaranteed to jam-pack the floor. First up, Ali & Calero contribute an utterly hypnotizing celestial synth enriched deep dub workout which puts the sumptuous saxophone to full effect. Next, Deep Roger & Rightside drop a feel-good rework perfect for peak time play thanks to infectious pulsating rhythms and catchy keys. Last but not least, there is Richard Brooks deep'n'groovey dub introducing cool male spoken word vocals and enticing keys.

Cubique DJ featuring Bassielelo "Fly with me" (Deep Forest SA CD Promo)

Cubique DJ makes his return to Spirit of House with "Fly with me", a delectable dee'n'soulful jewel oozing with the beautiful sweet vocals of Bassielelo, inebriant synth melodies and gentle yet thrilling rhythms to be released soon on Deep Forest SA. Highly recommended. Nuff said...

The best of the rest...

We are getting so many promos sent each and every week that many of them never get reviewed here on Spirit of House (for various reasons nota bene). However, as we want to make sure you are well informed what is happening, we have introduced this section where, every now and then, we will highlight other noteworthy releases...

With "All my lovin'", DJ/producer KlevaKeys (Adam Agnilleri) presents a truly uplifting slice of Disco infused four-to-the-floor goodness guaranteed to cause a stir on the dance floor thanks to resistless funked-up rhythms, exhilarating melodies and cool vocal samples (House Keys Records CD Promo). South American producer B-Liv presents "No guest list tonight", a simple yet very effective utterly hypnotizing deep house track. The "Reflection" EP by Lilac Jeans features two equally massive tracks both set to send the dancers into a frenzy. From Teddy Esposito comes the glorious "Deep House Blues EP" which, to make it short, is a real deep house delight. From the super melodious "It's just your love" over the ultra deep Detroit-esque "Loose ends" and the enigmatic "Imperfect love" to the glamorous title track whose dreamy melodies remind us of Vangelis "Blade runner" soundtrack, this is sheer musical bliss (Deeper Shades Recordings CD Promo).
