The beloved Brazilian Grooveland Music record label presents their 10th release which is a selection of previously unreleased materiel. Kicking off is a beautiful deep remix perfect for late nite play of the label's debut release "Afrika" by eDeep courtesy of BitterSuite, followed up by Jarrier Modrow's "Rare soul" re-touched by Julian Bendall who gives it a wonderful laidback yet jazzy and uplifting feel. Next is the Steve 'SoulBasics' Fox remix of "All things praise" by KC Jackson, a deeply stormin' affair built around a resistless funk drenched bassline. Hernan Cronner takes on Domenico Navarra's "So lonely", reworking the track (that features Monique Henry on vocals) into a deeply rumblin' affair featuring captivating keys and synths. Rounding things off is Abicah Soul's jazz-latin flavored take on "Eu soul" by BSC featuring Karina Campos. |

Vick Lavender blesses us with some exclusives to drop soon on his own Sophisticado label. First up his take on "Jazz in outer space" by BSTC, a magnificent fusion of a soulful Chicago house groove with jazz that will blow you away with its captivating live feel. Next is "First kiss" where he teams up with vocalist Carla Prather (currently available to us in the 'Hornstramental' version, a full vocal and remixes by Jihad Muhammad and Abicah Soul as well as a reprise by DJ Celeste Alexander will follow), a musical gem featuring a marvelous orchestration and outstanding vocals (Sophisticado Records CD-R).
UK Nu-Jazz pioneers Sunlightsquare drop a bomb with "Amyada", a delicious Latin production with a distinct live feel created by infectious percussion, drums and Latin vibes laced with beautiful vocals by Joy Malcolm. Mustafa reworks the song into a gorgeous deep house affair featuring delightful keys over a smooth groove, while Louisubsole uses a powerful afro-house groove to create a peak time favorite. The promo CD also includes a wonderful Latin interpretation of the Stevie Wonder classic "Pastime paradise". The 'Soul Cut Mix' is a lovely broken beat flavored mid-tempo affair, while the 'House Mix' is driven by a smooth yet relentless and deep tribal groove (Sunlightsquare Records CD Promo).
The mighty Rasmir presents "Bwana wangu (my husband)" by Sese, a track that will take dance floors by storm with the irresistible, percussion driven groove and the sexy African vocals which together with the keys create a mesmerizing feeling. A great selection of alternative mixes is included in the package, making this release essential to the concerning DJ (Mantree Records CD Promo).
"Soul exp." by Baeka was originally released back in 2004 on Deplay Music's "Vaults EP", but it took until now to get the track a full release. The track has been reworked and melts old skool house vibes with 70's Disco to create a feel good anthem for the dance floor full of lovely melodies. The 'Reason Version' smoothes things down for a more laidback feel, while the 'Elektro Version' is a stripped down electronic affair. Finally Dalminjo goes for a deep soul-tech ride on his take (Deeplay Music Records CD Promo).
Pattie LaBelle, Nona Hendryx and Sarah Dash are legends on their own, but together as LaBelle they have written music history. Now, after 32 years, they have come together again for the album "Back to now", from which the ballad "Superlover" has been given the club makeover by various remixers including Matthias Heilbronn who turns the song into an uplifting, soul drenched affair that oozes with its Disco vibes from beginning to the end. The dub is firing things up for peak time action while never letting down the soulful Disco feel. Finally there is a vocal reprise version dropping the beats that is pure soulful bliss (Verve Records CD Promo).
On "If", Gilbert Le Funk and DJ Bee team up with singer Kaysee to present a feel good a anthem for the dance floor featuring powerful vocals over a pumpin' groove that is enriched with a jazzy piano, classic strings and lovely synth chords. The loungey 'Cacique Remix' gives the track a Balearic feel, while Piers Kirwan goes old school on his mixes, with beautiful piano and keys accompanying the vocals. Mastercris goes deep on his atmospheric remix, while Edmund contributes a groovy interpretation featuring a great saxophone to the package (La Musique Fantastique Records CD Promo).
Glenn Gregory presents two lovely tracks for the lovers of soulful house: "Love has gone" features passionate vocals by Kinsella over a deep'n'smooth groove that is topped with lush keys, while "Journey" is a laidback jazz drenched house track full of beautiful melodies created by lovely chords and a jazzy saxophone (iMusic Underground Records CD Promo).
Alan Smithee in Blueblackness takes on the poetry of Rainy Payne and reworks her "Your eyes" into a deep laidback affair featuring phat synths over a deeply rumblin' groove (Consortium Muzik Records CD Promo).
Lisa Shaw presents the 3rd single "Music in you" lifted from her upcoming album "Free". The album version is an uplifting affair built around a somewhat gritty groove. You can choose from a variety of remixes, with Swiss DJ and producer Darrio D'Attis turning out hypnotic tech-funk flavored mixes, while Julius Papp goes deep on his old school tinged mixes. Lastly New Mondo pump up the vibe for feel good anthem perfect for the bigger rooms (Salted Music Records CD Promo).
The "Jaffa Music EP Part II" is a ten track selection of brand new and previously released material. Previously released were the DJ Fudge and Halo & Jamie Thinnes remixes of "Freedom" by Rachel Claudio and the Raw Artistic Soul mixes of "Do you even know" by Rachel Claudio & Nicolas Vautier. "These times" by Soul Harmonics & Rachel Claudio is included here in the 'Jinks Dub' and 'Anto Vitale Shabu Bro-Ken Mental Mix', both previously unreleased (you also get the 'Jink Main Mix'). Finally there is the brand new "Just because" by Rachel Claudio & Nicolas Vautier remixed by Steal Vybe who turns out absolutely irresistible peak time mixes featuring mesmerizing synths and chords over a resistless groove (Jaffa Music Records CD Promo).
"Sunday light" is Jonathan Meyer's debut single and features sultry vocals by June Grey over a deep yet smoothly thumpin' beat that is enriched with wicked keys in its original form. Kemal adds his unique, deep and relentless touch to the track, turning out peak time gems on both his vocal and dub mixes. Completing the package is the reprise version which has an 80's touch to it (Purple Music Records CD Promo).
With "The big sexy", DJ Dealer celebrates his move back to Chicago. Its a deep track that is guaranteed to rock the floors thanks to its raw, dirty edge that is created by a stompin' groove, spacy synths, wicked organ and sexy vocals. The 'ChiTown Dub' drops the organ, while the 'Dream Mix' uses jazzy keys and melodic chords to give the track a more laidback feel (Look-At-You Records CD Promo).
