The next release on GoGo Music will be "Angel" by Matteo Ionescu featuring Wendy Lewis. Remixes will be provided by Ralf Gum & Cris P and Benny Pecoraio.

As Christmas is near and New Years eve is not even a fortnight away, things are slowing down and yours truly is looking for some time to relax. But before 2004 ends, there will be another update including the brand new classics mix Tribute to DEF-Mix Part 2 as well as Fresh Grooves Volume 279.

The release for the "Elements of Life: Extensions" album by Louie Vega featuring remixes by Jazzy Jeff, Glenn Underground, Joe Claussell, Jazz'N'Groove, Frankie Feliciano, DJ Gregory and DJ Spinna on Vega Records has been put back to late January 2005.

 

November 28, 2004

Home Recordings is a brand new label out of Toronto/Canada, founded by Junior Palmer. Their first release will be Junior Palmer presents Stephanie Cooke "New day" with mixes by 83 West, Quentin Harris and Karizma. This will be followed up with "When" by Kenny Bobien. Watch out for a review of "New day" coming very soon.

Swiss label Purple Music Records are preparing their next releases at the moment which will include "Skunk" by The Funk Ensemble, a funky track produced by Dario Dattis. The release will also feature a remix by Jamie Lewis, who also reworked "Will I ever" by Tanja Dankner that should be out soon.

The next Purple Music Night will take place at club Kaufleuten in Zurich/Switzerland on November 27 with the music provided by Jamie Lewis & Brian Tappert and sexy vocals from MC Lady Energy. Live on stage will be Connie Harvey peforming her current hit "Thank you lord".

 

November 14, 2004

Refunkt Records will soon start their new Refunkt Trax imprint with the premier release being produced by Soularis. The release will be a cover of the Qunicy Jones classic "Ai no corrida" which will be released under the name Sugar Bomb. Coming on Refunkt will be "Open your mind" by Mango Company, produced by Swiss DJ Tremendo.

The next Purple Music Night will take place at club Kaufleuten in Zurich/Switzerland on October 30 with the music provided by Jamie Lewis and sexy vocals from MC Lady Energy. Live on stage will be Colin Corvez (from Peppermint Jam Records) peforming his new hit "Ready" by One Touch (out now on Purple Music Records).

It looks like some labels will switch promotion to MP3 instead of vinyls. Sending out vinyls is expensive these days, so using MP3 instead saves a lot of money. To protect their property, however, many of the labels will be using watermarking for the MP3 so they can trace back the owner if the file is going to be traded.

Purple Music Records will release soon the Jamie Lewis mixes of  "You are the one" by Cerrone featuring Jocelyn Brown. As a bonus, the 12" will also feature "Hooked on you" remixed by Dimitri from Paris.

Verve Records will soon release "Masters At Work Present Latin Verve Sounds", a new collection of some of the classic latin-flavored songs in the the Verve Music Group's archives. The tracks were chosen by 'Little' Louie Vega and Kenny 'Dope' Gonzalez. The compilation features a wide range of artists, composers, sounds, and grooves. Out on 12" promo is "La descarga del bobo" by Willie Bobo which has been remixed by the Masters at Work.

DefSoul Records released a 2x12" promo of Pattie Labelle's "New day" featuring mixes by 'Little' Louie Vega, Quentin Harris and Darryl James. Let's hope this will get a full release soon. Unfortunately, the massive Geoffrey C remix is not included on the package.

Ricanstruction Records are on a roll with the release of "Hindsight" by Beade Belle just around the corner.

Next up on MAW Records promo will be "The world" by Sterling Ensemble featuring Juliet Moesha, including mixes by 'Little' Louie Vega.

Be aware that the updates will shift from Saturday to Sunday on most weekends as I'm taking some education on saturday morning until the end of this year.

Iwanai Records picked up the Stacey Mallory production "Afrikan soul", a former pick of the week. It should be out soon on 12".

If you encounter any problems playing the mixes, plase make sure you upgrade to the latest version of the Real Player.

Unfortunately, the Alicia Keys "Feelin' me" bootlegg 12" didn't make it in time for a review this week. It will be featured next week together with "Love calls" by Kemistry which has been given the DFA remix treatment.

I got a vinyl in the mail this week that unfortunately arrived broken. All I know is that the record was sent from North York in Ontario, Canada and someone by the name of i-Soul did the included tracks/remixes. Try to get your hands on a copy of the Alix Alvarez remix of Alicia Keys' "Feelin me" on bootlegg 12". It will be reviewed here next week (if all goes well and the package arrives on time).

The next two releases from swiss label Purple Music will be Tanya Dankner "Will I ever" and John Lucas featuring Tylene "Join me".

NextMoov Records released the "Moov Inn EP" a couple of weeks ago. This EP was reviewed here over a year ago and features the slamming vocal productions "Rush" by Jovonn and "Set your spirit free" by Blvd. East as well as the classy club tracks "Jurassic House (Remix)" by Jovonn and "Key of life (Remix)" by Jeremias Santiago.

WestEnd Records released the beautiful "Found love" by Blaze a couple of weeks ago. It is a soulful vocal song on a midtempo tip with a gentle bossa rhythm with latin guitars and great keys. Slip'N'Slide Records will release additional mixes by the end of june.

Don't miss the first release in the Salsoul Re-Edit Series out on Salsoul UK Records. It features Danny Krivit Edits of "Falling in love" by Surface and "Let no  man put asunder" by First Choice.

Trax Records will soon release two CD sets: "TRAX RECORDS: The 20th Anniversary Collection" and "TRAX RECORDS: The Next Generation". The first CD set is mixed by Maurice Joshua and Paul Johnson. It also features a bonus unmixed CD featuring some of their biggest classic. The second CD set is mixed again by Maurice Joshua and also features a bonus unmixed CD with recent and upcoming Trax stuff. More info can be found here.

Brian Tappert has remixed "Mozalounge" from Louie Vega. Most likely it will get released on Vega Records as part of the "Elements of Life Remix Album" later this year.

Yoshitoshi Records released a 2x12" of "Diamond life" by Louie Vega & Jay Sinister present Julie McKnight. Beside new mixes by Dean Coleman and Deep Dish, this double pack also includes the 'MAW Ritual Dub' and the 'Richard Earnshaw Remix' which was only available as bootlegg so far.

On February 28, the next of the monthly Purple Music nights will take place at Club Kaufleuten in Zurich, Switzerland with DJ Jamie Lewis and MC Lady Energy. Michelle Weeks will perform live her greatest hits.

As the WMC in Miami is coming closer, more and more parties are announced. On Monday March 8, there will be Purple Music & MAP Dance @ The Lost Weekend Bar (located at Espanola Way/Ocean Drive) from 3pm to 9 pm, featuring DJs Jamie Lewis, Mr Mike, Paul Farris, Audiowhores and Tremendo.

GoGo Music will prmote Ralf Gum & Inaya Day "What I like" at the WMC in Miami with release scheduled for the end of March. It is produded by Ralf Gum & Chris P and includes remixes by Sugar Beat and 2 Soundz.

On January 31, the first of the monthly Purple Music nights will take place at Club Kaufleuten in Zurich, Switzerland with DJ Jamie Lewis and MC Lady Energy. It's the CD Release Party for "The Master Collection", a double-CD selected by Jamie Lewis and featuring productions from the like of Bob Sinclar, Knee Deep, Pound Boys, Sandy Riviera, Jamie Lewis, Simon Grey and songs from Michelle Weeks, Michael Watford, Michael Procter, Billie, LT Brown, Lisa Millett, Chance and more. The first 500 people at the party will receive a free copy of the CD.
