|Last year, Aphreme aka Martin Mamzer and Donald Sheffey blessed us with the wonderful "Soul muzeek", now they return in big style with "Come a lil closer" which has timeless written all over it. The song is full of emotion, featuring masterly performed heartfelt vocals by Donald Sheffey and gorgeous keyboard arrangements over a funk drenched, smooth organic backing. The 'Jayiva Mix' takes the song to deeper grounds, while the 'Oldschool Dub Mix' adds an underground feel. The remixes are courtesy of John Crockett, Jozana and DJ Rico who all keep the vibe truly soulful while turning the song into a resistless dance floor gem, each spicing it up with their unique flavors and sounds. Dihann Moore "Agape love" (Kolonki Records CD Promo)
The Phil R produced "Agape love" is a rather laidback affair featuring warm keys alongside passionate vocals by Dihann Moore over a deeply groovin' backdrop. The 'Karu Remix' by Quentin Allen is a groovy variation featuring techy keys, while Johnny Montana & Craig Stewart inject the track with their beloved organic sounds. Lastly, Deep Vintage give the track a chilled jazzy feel on their version.
Licksamba & Tommy Largo featuring Jamon "People dancing" (Grooveland Music Records CD Promo)
"People dancing" is a collaboration between production duo Licksamba (aka Tarek and Luis Ramirez), DJ/producer Tommy Largo and singer Jamon. Together they present a fierce yet hypnotic deep house track featuring captivating vocals and lush keys and pads over thumpin' beats. Jay Tripwire deepens the vibe and gives the track a dark melodious touch, while. SoulBasics contribute a deep soulful interpretation coming complete with warm keys and infectious piano. Mimi gets tribalistic on his mesmeric yet minimal tech take, while Emilio Rebenga serves a deep electrofied version.
Hideo Kobayashi featuring Mina Jackson "You changed the way" (Apt. International Records CD Promo)
"You changed the way" first appeared on Hideo Kobayashi's stunning debut album "Zero" released in March of last year. The original is a marvelous mid tempo groover featuring deeply felt vocals by Mina Jackson alongside melodious keys and sweet guitar. His 'Classical Stab' mixes reworks the track into an energetic yet soulful dance floor stomper fueled with exciting synth melodies, while the 'Elefunk' mixes are electrofied remixes destined for the main room. Osamu M & Hiromat go for a percussive tribal workout on a minimal latinesque tip, while Solid State turn the track into a sophisticated dub step affair.
Armbar "Soul Submission EP" (Look At You Records CD Promo)
Armbar follow up their massive "Love Tap EP" with the "Soul Submission EP" which is guaranteed to se the roof on fire once dropped on the dance floor. All tracks included are absolutely remorseless and ooze with feel good old skool funky vibes. And then there is the wicked DJ Homewrecker's remix of "You will never know me" which takes the track to the next level - the way "Flowers" by The Emotions gets sampled here is intriguing...
Wil Milton "One and only desire" (Blak Ink Records CD Promo)
The unstoppable Wil Milton once again pulls all the stops and delivers another sure fire winner with "One and only desire", a production featuring live drums alongside lush melodies and seductive tenor sax which together with the smooth as silk backdrop create a gorgeous deep house feel. The '4 AM Groove' relaxes the vibe with is wonderful broken beat styled groove, while 'Wil Milton Live on Drums' is pure musical bliss.
Exclusive Preview: Empire of the Sun "We are the people" (Spellband Bootleg Remix)(CD-R)
The original of "We are the people" by Australia's Empire of the Sun reminds of the larger than life electro synth pop era in the 80's. It is loaded with those trademark synth melodies and features a sweet guitar and catchy vocals. Spellband's rework takes the track to the dance floors with a fiercely thumpin' yet smooth backdrop. It might be cheesy but its actually uber cool too.
