Back in March of this year, FOMP graced us with "Speak to me", fabulous slice of soul oozing afro-deepness produced by South Africa's Vilo which is performed in grand style by Brie Boateng. Now this beauty returns in phenomenal new interpretations by Jonny Miller who goes as deep as it gets on his dreamy rework laced with heavenly melodies and inexorably thumpin' rhythms, and Trinidadian Deep takes the track to a whole new level on his pulsative rendition which uses percussive rhythms as playground for the vocals and luscious keys.
Kassav' "Zouk la se cel medikamen nou ni" (Atal Music CD Promo)
Since formed in 1979, Kassav' created its own style 'zouk' by experimenting an eleven-piece gwo ka unit and two lead singers, tambour bele, ti bwa, biguine, African styles and mostly cadence or compas with full use of the MIDI technology. Kassav' are very popular in Africa, what better than enlisting African house music artists remixing one of their songs for the dance floor... The chosen ones are Effort Gashu & Kead Wikead from Zimbabwe and Deep Suite, Michael Ashe and C-Major (SA) all from South Africa - to cut a long story short, they all add their distinctive afro/afro-deep/soulful touch to the song, making it next to impossible to pick a favorite version from this stellar truly eclectic seletion of re-imaginations.
