Jonny Montana featuring Pete Simpson "Maybe we could be free" (Stalwart Records CD Promo)
|There ain't no stoppin' for up and rising Jonny Montana as the masterly "Maybe we could be free" proves. The song features the one and only Pete Simpson on vocals who impresses with a deeply felt performance on this utterly soulful production featuring exquisite jazzy keys and saxophone over a laidback loungey backing in the original version. The 'House Mix' is a smooth yet thrilling 4/4 interpretation of the song, taken to the next level by Vick Lavender who contributes a deeper wonderfully orchestrated version. But it doesn't end here as the Dolls Combers turn out a real jewel with their delightful remix that turns the heat up while never letting down the soul and emotion of the original.|
DragonFly "Mahal kita (binago)" (Newlite Muzik CD Promo)
"Mahal kita" was originally recorded in 2000 under the moniker Serjaye (a collaboration between Jason JayCee Ferguson and DragonFly) and then released through Neat Music in 2002, becoming an instant favorite with DJ's around the globe. Now this wonderful song returns with slammin' remixes by Abicah Soul whose three deep yet soulful mixes (one of them released on white label 12" back in 2004) are truly varied, while PolyRhythm go as deep as it gets on their hypnotic workout laced with lush synth melodies.
DJ Serge Negri featuring Anise "Breakthrough" (Bamboo Sounds CD Promo)
Hot on the heels of "Touch and control", DJ Serge Negri presents another bomb, this time teaming up with Anise for "Breakthrough", a grand production featuring delightful jazzy keys, saxophone and flute over deep percussion enriched rhythms, not to forget to mention the outstanding deeply felt vocals by Anise. The remix is courtesy of Kalim Shabazz who gives the track a definitive underground twist.
Richard Earnshaw featuring Imogen Ryall "Cry me a river" (Groovefinder Records CD Promo)
Here we have the long awaited second single from Richard Earnshaw's highly praised long player "In time" released last year. "Cry me a river" is an ingenious cover version of Ella Fitzgerald's memorable jazz classic featuring amazing vocals by Imogen Ryall alongside gorgeous jazzy keys over fierce yet soulful funk drenched backdrop. Black Coffee delivers a mesmeric piece of afrocentric soul, while Lefstide Wobble turns out a classy old skool flavored slice of boogie. Lastly, Scrimshire gets busy with the beat science on his take, nicely rounding off the package.
John Crockett featuring Natalie "Neighbor boy" (Haus'Flor Records CD Promo)
"Neighbor boy" is the latest chapter in the series of fruitful by John Crockett and Natalie, featuring the inimitable vocals by Natalie and John Crockett's unique keys and synth play over a deeply thumpin' infectious backing. "Neighbor boy" comes complete with an inspiring selection of remixes by Da Capo, DJ Aphreme, Mikki Afflick and John Crockett himself all adding their distinctive touch, giving you plenty of options to work the dance floors at any given time and occasion.
