Welcome to Volume 6 of our new format called Short Reviews on Spirit of House. Enjoy this fresh'n'deep selection of house...
First up is Greece DJ and producer DJ Constantin with a track titled "AVRA", a deep atmospheric house track featuring lush synth chords over a deeper than deep, percussion enriched groove. The remix is courtesy of Boddhi Satva who flips the track into a spacey, afro-centric tribal monster (Seed Records CD Promo). We haven't heard from Paul G (Paul Garavellos, a Toronto native who moved to New Jersey a while ago) for quite some time, but now he returns with the "Apt #3A EP" which features four great deep house tracks. The title track is built around a smooth tribalish backing groove featuring wicked keys and chords that create a mesmerizing feel. "Sambalism (part 2)" is a wonderful laidback jazz house track featuring a fantastic piano alongside phat keys, while "Motion sickness" gets deeper with its moody chords and spheric synths. Lastly there is the tech-soul "The Spaniard" that keeps the vibe deep and sexy (CyberJamz Records CD Promo). Next is "In-between dreams" by Andy Sant, a deep and laidback track with a lovely funky edge to it that features a sexy vocal courtesy of Amy Hannan. The remixes are by Amit Shoham, Q-Burns Abstract Message, Brad Electro and Adnan Sharif & Jared F who all add their distinctive touch to it, turning out a lovely selection of deep, dark techy mixes (Tarantic Records CD Promo).
Seed Records launch their sister label Subway Soul Music with the release of "The Greenline EP". The label will focus on the harder side of house music, with Martijn serving "Acid agenda", a minimal tech-house track with atmospheric synths. Steve SoulBasic gives the track a warm late nite feel that keeps the techy mood of the original alive. Mikaris contributes two tracks to this release. Both "Too fast" and "Chi-Town Tech" are rough deep house tracks based on dirty grooves which are spiced with spacy synths (CD Promo). Next we have an Exclusive Preview for you: "Deep in my mind" by Mr. Mama, a hypnotizing track thanks to the atmospheric synth layers and deeply thumpin' groove that together create a relentless feel on the dance floor (CD-R).
Latvian producers Flying Mice & Andre Crash present "Back to Chicago", a bumpin' house track inspired by the Windy City featuring catchy keys and mesmerizing jazzy saxophone. A total of six different remixes is included in the package, that give the track different flavors such as deep, techy or funky. And as a special treat, a wicked funked-up break-beat version is included to (M Trax Records CD Promo). Hard Mix! present a phat two track funky house release titled "The Funky Magic". "Something like it" is all about a mesmerizing, funkily rumblin' groove that is enriched with female vocal samples and hot guitar licks, while "Concept" features melodic chords over a smoothly pumpin' groove (Mercado Paralelo Music Records CD Promo). To close this update, we have another Exclusive Preview for you: Mauritzio 'Old Bastard' Baiocchi presents his wicked interpretation of the Shawn Christopher classic "Don't lose the magic", a nice fusion of the timeless David Morales reprise with Harry Romero's remix of MD X-Spress "God made me phunky" and some added synths (CD-R).
