ZuluMafia featuring Cooks - Give me a chance

After releasing his wonderful music through various renowned labels such as Open Bar, Afro Rebel Music and Candi Bean Records, Simphiwe Nhlapho who is better known as ZuluMafia is about to launch his own label ZuluMafia Digital. The inaugural release "Give me a chance" is a marvelous soulful production oozing with his much-admired South African touch and features the vocal talents of Cooks who impresses with his heartfelt rendition of the lyrics. Besides ZuluMafia's own fabulous variations ranging from thrilling deep over truly soulful to laidback broken beat, there are magnificent remixes by Mxdope and Lamulka Arts both adding their distinctive soulful yet spell binding touch to the song. In other words, this is soulful house at its best.

JohNick - You know how we dew... Johnny 'D' De Mairo and Nicky Palermo Jr. (better known as JohNick) are a pair of Italian-American DJ's who consider their tracks a tribute to what was before, but with a modern twist. The record that started it all for them was "Everything I got" they released under the disguise The Faces through Vibe Music in 1993. Soon after, in 1994, they launched their own now legendary label Henry Street Music and started to release their tracks as JohNick, making their Disco infused sound known to the world (it was not just Disco samples, but Disco methods they drew on for inspiration). Now, almost two decades later, BBE Records present a comprehensive retrospective of the duo's work - from the seminal "Play the world" to "Open your eyes" and "Wild kingdom", all the essential tracks they put out over the years can be found on this 22 track compilation which lets you rejoice in the timeless JohNick sound.

Rejoice Records grace us with a phenomenal release which takes soulful house to a whole new level... Joey Silvero, under his Distant People disguise, joins forces with legendary house music diva Stephanie Cooke for "Keep moving", a production that has timeless written all over it and features Stephanie Cooke's incomparable soulful vocals and sublime keys over smooth yet spell binding rhythms. Andrew Hartley injects a serious dose of funk to make your body sweat, Jonny Montana blesses us with a precious organic jazz drenched rendition, and finally Danny Clark takes us back in time with his 90's inspired workout. It is next to impossible to choose a favorite as each of the interpretations is guaranteed to send shivers down your spine and make you yearn for more...

Bo Moore featuring Keisha Hall - Right choices We haven't heard from CIMA Recordings for a while, but now they are back in grand style with "Right choices" by Bo Moore and songstress Keisha Hall. The original version of "Right choices" is a truly soulful affair, with lush synth melodies and jazzy keys accompanying Keisha Hall's sultry vocal rendition of the lyrics, all perfectly arranged over laidback rhythms. Next is a marvelous rendition by Wayne Gardiner which features heavenly keys and gives the song a groovier feel, then we have DJ Tony V who turns the heat up on his dub version to give you something to rock the floor at peak time. Essential,by no means to be missed.

The Rough Materials - Volume One

Roots Go Deep Music is a brand new label out of South Africa created and directed by Sibusiso Ncongwane and Siyabonga Ngwenya whose objective is to shed light on the real deep underground house of South Africa - the labels debut release "The Rough Materials - Volume One" which features productions by Fred Buddah (Sibusiso Ncongwane), Ofuren (Siyabonga Ngwenya) and Soul Arab (Siyabonga Dube) certainly proves their point. Each of the four included tracks will take you on a journey to deepest territory, with the raw deepness created by utterly infectious rhythms, luscious melodies and sparsely used cool vocals creating a mesmerizing feel you can't resist to dance to. An ingenious release not to be missed by any lover of pure underground house music. We can't wait to hear more from this label...

S.O.U.L. vs Tinbota featuring Dr Feelx - House music was born

What a musical treat we have here courtesy of Shines Records...  The DJ Soul and Tinbota (Andrea Fontemaggi) produced "House music was born" is a tribute to the music we all love and admire so much. The fabulous original mixes use laidback yet infectious percussive rhythms as playground for thehaunting spoken word poetry by Dr Feelx (Felix Imevbore) and delectable keys and chords, just to be taken to the next level by label head Gene King whose groovey 'Beautiful People Mix' oozes with heavenly melodies. This is followed by Daniel Guetta who contributes gritty 80's inspired synth fueled remixes and Phat Frank who enters deepest territory on his moody slightly dark workout. Highly recommended.
