Back in 1977, Sandy Barber had her first release with the long player "The best is yet to come" released through Olde World Records (the album has since became a Northern Soul classic), soon to be re-released by BBE Records in a deluxe edition. While you might not be familiar with this classic album release by Sandy Barber, she had quite some success in the 1990's as Sandy B with such gems as "Feels like singin'" (Nervous Records) or "Make the world go round" (Champion Records) which are nowadays considered a house music classic. Preceding the re-release of her album is this single release featuring "I think I'll doe some stepping on my own" and "Don't you worry baby" in the original versions as well as in paramount remixes by the legendary John Morales and Million Dollar Disco hero Al Kent. One not to be missed. |

A former Pick of the Week in May 2009 when originally released on Iwanai Records, the marvelous "I'll be there" by Suges which features heartfelt vocals by Michael Dave Dizon gets a welcome re-release on Soulstream Records. The release features none less than fourteen versions and comes complete with the timeless original version, Suges own 'Steampunk Mix' and the Guy Robin remix from the 2009 release, and it also includes an eclectic selection of brand new remixes by 83 West, Kojo Akusa, ManyMore, Oral Deep, PM Project, $moove, Gene King and Jazzmattik (and we've almost forgot to mention that you also get the acapella). The bottom line is that this stellar package offers something for everyone, and it certainly is one of the vocal house records of 2011. Nuff said. |

Sometime in the early 2000's, the "Disco Demands" series - which has been highly successful ever since - was started by Al Kent whose idea was to put together a compilation of records he really liked. What differentiates this series from the regular Disco compilation (which you can find plenty in music stores for little money) is the fact the songs featured stray from the standards and give you the unique opportunity to experience Disco in its full glory. Over time, Al Kent started to include some of his own edits, making the series even more special. To celebrate the success of the series, BBE Records will release "The Best of Disco Demands - A Collection of Rare 1970s Dance Music compiled by Al Kent" in January 2012, coming your way as two vinyl double packs, 5xCD pack with poster and also as digital download. |
