Nadirah Shakoor "Love song" (Yoruba Records CD Promo)
Yoruba's diva Nadirah Shakoor presents her new single "Love song" that is taken from ther upcoming full length release that is currently in production. Produced by Osunlade, "Love song" is a wonderful laidback song that features a marvellous sultry vocal performance over a sweet percussion filled soulful backing groove that is enriched with a great instrumentation. The 'Yoruba Soul Dub' is an irresistible affair based on a deeply rumblin' groove. The remixes are courtesy of Frankie Feliciano and Bahsonik with both of them providing fantastic renditions. Exclusiv Preview: Larry P. Rauson "Singing" (CD-R)
Larry P. Rauson, one of house musics legendary producers and musicians, returns after a much to long absence from the scene with a couple of hot and fresh productions. One of them is "Singing", an old-school production that even keeps the tempo on a level it used to be several years ago. The track has a true underground feeling to it, featuring a deeply rumblin' groove that is enriched with wonderful keys and male vocal chants. Watch out for future reviews of Larry P. Rauson other new productions.
Kirk Franklin featuring J Moss And Tye Tribbett "Could've been" (Jayone's Jesus Is My Father Re-Edit)(CD-R)
"Could've been" is the second track from Kirk Franklin's 2005 longplayer "Hero" that is getting a great makeover that transform the track for the dancefloor. Sweden's DJ Jayone takes the energetic gospel stomper and delivers a spiced up four-to-the-floor version preserves the feel-good feeling and funky flavors.
Various "Bolshevik Vol. 9" (Bootlegg 12")
Bolshevik, a label created by the Ibadan crew to release special remixes, delivers a precious release with their 9th volume. First up is the marvellous Osunlade reworking of Vivian Green's "Emotional rollercoaster" thats already considered a classic, with the flipside featuring splendid reworkings of "Set U free" by Kem and "Easy livin'" by Peven Everett courtesy of Groove Assassin.
Mary J Blige "Be without U" (Jihad Muhammad Mix)(CD-R)
My favorite r&b song of 2006 finally gets a soulful reworking courtesy of Jihad Muhammad whose interpretation stays respectful to the meaning of the lyrics, keeping it soulful with a mellow percussion enriched groove serving as playground for Mary J Blige's wonderful vocal performance and a beautiful jazzy piano line.
Floetry "Feelings" (Fall Out Records 12")
Pablo Martinez takes on the poetic "Feelings", a songs by Floetry that sees them accompanied by just violine and piano (originally released on their 2005 longplayer "Flo'Ology"). His 'Drumz Mix' is a stormin' affair with deeply thumpin' beats and drumz underneath the original instrumentation. The 'Late Nite Mix' takes it even deeper, with additional keys added to it that add the late night flavors.
Erotika "Kolas" (Fall Out Records 12")
Darryl James & Fred McFarlane for once come up with a producton on their own. "Kolas" runs at almost twelve minutes, bringing the summer to the dancefloor with its uplifting vibes created by a smooth groove, lovely guitars and melodic keys alongside female vocal chants, with a sweet flute solo and additional layers of keys coming in later in the track.
Charlie Wilson "No words" (Fall Out Records 12")
Darryl James & Fred McFarlane aka DFA take on Charlie Wilson's downtempo r&b song "No words" (lifted from his 2005 longplayer "Charlie, last name Wilson"). Their rendition keeps the magic of the Charlie Wilson's magnificent vocals intact while adding a fierce groove that is enriched with great keys and organ lines.
Jose Feliciano "Sunny" (Restricted Access Records 12")
Originally released in 1968, "Sunny is an acoustic latin song by Jose Feliciano that gets reworked by Timmy Regisford for the dancefloors. Timmy Regisford creates another one of those in-demand Shelter anthems that uses brisk drums and the unique strings that add that incomparable vibe. And it sounds as there is an extra latin guitar added as well.
Dave Storm featuring Simone Moreno "Sundance" (Ceremony Records CD Promo)
With "Sundance", Dave Storm and Simone Moreno present a production perfect for those hot summer nights that features a marvellous guitar by Jorma Puusaag beside sweet and sexy sing along vocals and wicked keys that together with the smooth tribal groove create an irresistible vibe. Spiritchaser (aka Richard Earnshaw and Mark Bamford) deliver a remix that intensifies the vibe to an incredible climax with a slightly tougher edge.

A classic Dino & Terry remix from the beginning of the millenium that took Musiq Soulchild's collaboration with Ayana titled "Girl next door" to the dancefloors by giving it a soulful floor-to-the-floor outfit. Digital download is available here.
