Back in April 2008, we were blown away by Jephte Guillaume and Wiltrud Weber's "Blue & deep" and celebrated this outstanding production with the words "..with its spirit and the uplifting vibe, this one must be considered an innovative masterpiece." The two went back to the studio together and recorded a full album which is about to be released in the next few days, continuing what the single started almost three and a half years ago. Each of the songs is an unheard-of combination of Wiltrud Weber's sensual operatic singing with Jephte Guillaume's intricately organic orchestrations and melodies - from the first to the last second you will be taken on a one-of-a-kind musical journey. In other words, "Blue & deep" is a seminal album taking dance music to a whole new level with its spirited, revolutionary sound and approach. |

Written and produced by James Mtume and Reggie Lucas and performed by Phyllis Hyman (r.i.p.) in 1979 - "You know how to love me" must be considered one of the defining Disco/Soul songs from the late 70's. Groove Junkies and songstress Indeya pay homage to this wonderful song and the one and only Phyllis Hyman with their amazing interpretation that stays true to the timeless unforgettable original while adding a modern fresh touch. Not many words are needed to describe the result: the vocal version is sheer musical bliss with Indeya pulling out all the stops on her phenomenal rendition, while the 'Vocal Dub' guarantees jam-packed floors with its irresistible rhythms and lush keys and chords. One not to be missed. |

This incredible debut album by Mr. A.L.I - the duo of Vick Lavender and Jere McAllister - was originally released on Unified Records in late 2006 on CD, now for the first time it will be available as digital download to all those that missed it the first time. "Transit-chasing life" features an impressive list of accomplished musicians and artists (think of Nicole Mitchell, Mike Logan, Carla Prather, Eddie Arroyo, Sparrow, Reggie Hall) and shows an amazing depth of versatility of influences such as house, jazz and r&b. Included are the unforgotten single releases "Imagine freedom", "About us" and "Dance all night" as well as many other musical gems. Make not mistake, this seminal album may be a couple of years old but the music is timeless and of highest quality. Essential. |

We have to admit that we have always been a big fan of Colonel Abrams, his unmistakable voice and his countless classics such as "Music is the answer", "Trapped" or "I'm not gonna let" to name just a few. Born in Detroit and raised in New York, "Who wrote the rules of love" is actually the first song he recorded in Detroit. On this Omar S production, his voice sounds as fresh and awesome as more than two decades ago on before mentioned classics, and the uber cool old skool flavored backing together with the delectable keys and chords make this something truly special. Don't sleep on this timeless piece of music, the vinyl collectors should act fast not to miss out on the limited colored vinyl release. |
