We have to admit that we have always been a big fan of Colonel Abrams, his unmistakable voice and his countless classics such as "Music is the answer", "Trapped" or "I'm not gonna let" to name just a few. Born in Detroit and raised in New York, "Who wrote the rules of love" is actually the first song he recorded in Detroit. On this Omar S production, his voice sounds as fresh and awesome as more than two decades ago on before mentioned classics, and the uber cool old skool flavored backing together with the delectable keys and chords make this something truly special. Don't sleep on this timeless piece of music, the vinyl collectors should act fast not to miss out on the limited colored vinyl release.

Originally to be found on the sampler and compilation titled "Soulful House Journey: Sean McCabe", the timeless "Just a little bit" which is produced by UK wunderkind Sean McCabe and features the legendary Stephanie Cooke on vocals finally gets a full release, complete with massive remixes. The combination of Sean McCabe's signature soulful yet fierce organic sound and Stephanie Cooke's unmistakable vocals simply is a gift from heaven... Black Sonix (aka Justin Stride) somewhat relaxes the vibe on his deepened digitized version oozing with lush melodies, while Marlon D gets utterly deep and gives the track a mesmerizing feel created by stormin' rhythms and vibey keys. There was once a singer going by the name of  Junior who had a world wide club smash titled "Mama used to say" back in 1981. Now three decades later this unforgettable song returns in a magnificent cover version produced by Anthony Maizil, Jerk House Connection and Franky Boissy, performed by Akram Sedkaoui who impresses with his phenomenal vocal interpretation. Franky Boissy delivers a modern soul-funk drenched version, DJ Rork revives this everlasting classic, staying true to the vibe of the original on his 'Classic Mix' while his stompin' '1993 Mix' features wicked dirty synths. The Layabouts bless us with something truly special on their deep melodious remix oozing with their signature sound - one of their finest works to date. Next are David Harness' relentlessly stormin' mixes guaranteed to cause a stir on the dance floor, followed by Jerk House Connection who contribute both a deeper and a timeless soulful jazzed-up version. After dropping the massive single "Again" in fall 2010 and being praised for his remix of "I'm Africa" by Mikki Afflick featuring Mona Bode earlier this year, Khanya Balani is about to release his debut long player "Vanity" through Soul Sun Soul Music. A few weeks ago SoulFree Records blessed us with the laster chapter in the Black Sauce saga titled "Can't stop the world", now they drop the next bomb courtesy of KemeticJust aka Justin Chapman. "What you want" comes in two distinctive equally fantastic flavors. The 'Original Househeads Mix' is truly deep and infectious, featuring emotive male vocals, classy guitar and delectable keys and chords. The masterly orchestrated, broken beat styled 'Latin Tinge Remix' relaxes the vibe and gives the track a masterly jazzy latinesque feel, complete with additional vocals. A musical gem not to be missed.
