Mr. Boogie featuring Darian Crouse - What could be better

In mid-December, we introduced you to the inaugural release from brand new label Soulful Evolution ("Feel the rhythm" by Uber Harmonics & OneDee featuring Ms H), now the second single on the label is here and what a musical treat it is... South Africa's Mr. Boogie (Brendon Davids) teams up with vocalist Darian Crouse for "What could be better", a marvelous soulful production built around deep dulcet rhythms, grand keys and Darian Crouse's incomparable heartfelt vocals. The 'Caper & Tom Question Answered Mix' intensifies the vibe with thumpin' rhythms and enticing melodies, Ondagroove (Giles Hirst) contributes a fervid funk soaked piano driven feel good rework, and last but not least we have the deep hypnotizing 'Afrotech Mix' fueled with celestial melodies.

To celebrate the beginning of 2014 and the labels ninth year of existence, Gotta Keep Faith Records have put together a breathtaking retrospective collection of afro-latin flavored tracks selected from the labels awe-inspiring back catalogue, with not less than 23 handpicked tracks from an illustrious list of artists, producers and remixers that have collaborated with the label over the years being featured. To cut a long story short, the appearance of the likes of Donald Sheffey, MJ Whilte, Dom Navarra, Stephanie Cooke, Groove Assassin, Steve Paradise, Mr. Fuzz, Ciappy DJ & Davide Murri, Tantra Zawadi, DJ Rico and Spiritual Blessings (to name just a few) make this compilation something truly special.

Various People EP Vol. 1

The phenomenal "People EP Vol. 1" features four blazin' hot old school inspired productions guaranteed to take you on a journey back into time. First up we have Louie 'Balo' Guzman's 1994 classic "Don't shut me out" (originally released on the "Boogie Balo EP" on Empire State Records) in a brand new spiced-up re-imagination which stays true to the original. Next is the deep melodious "Lose my mind" by Mikki Funk which combines classic garage sounds with luscious chords and snippets of Marvin Gaye's legendary "I heard it through the grapevine". 90's UK garage heroes Tuff Jam unite with Mike Sharon to bring their classic bumpin' sounds back to the floor in form of the phantasmagorical "Thank you house music". Finally, label head Marc Cotterell blesses us with "Jus dance", a classic US garage styled production which features the inimitable vocals of Karl The Voice alongside illustrious jazzed-up keys.

We haven't heard from Gabriel Horizon and his Bounce Muzik label for quite a long time, thankfully their hiatus is now over and they are back stronger than ever with the wonderful "Be of love" performed in grand style by songstress Johana. The Gabriel Horizon produced "Be of love" is an utterly soulful affair, with a smoothly thumpin' yet spell binding funktified backdrop leading the way for luxurious keys and Johana's amazing sultry rendition of the vocals - a soulful organic gem guaranteed to put a spell on you. On remix duty is William 'ReelSoul' Rodriguez who takes the song to the next level by adding his signature truly mind-blowing soulful yet thrilling deep'n'rich touch. By no means to be missed.

The wonderful "Never knew love" was originally recorded by Oleta Adams back in 1995, now this soul classic gets revived by C Robert Walker who tells the story from the male perspective. Quite simply, his interpretation of the song is sheer musical bliss - in other words, he blesses us with a breathtaking slice of up-tempo soul music having timeless written all over. By no means to be missed.

Luyo - You're my delight

It has been an amazing year for Double Cheese Records, and for their final release in 2013 they have pulled out all the stops and grace us with something truly special courtesy of Luyo (Federico Luglio). "You're my delight" is a phenomenal masterly orchestrated soul oozing production built around a fervid funk soaked backdrop, exquisite jazzy keys by Peter De Girolamo, fantastic guitars by Stefano Malatesta and additional live drums by Valerio Vantaggio, not to forget to mention Wendy Lewis' emotive truly one-of-a-kind vocals. The remixes are courtesy of DJ Spen & Gary Hudgins who add their signature soulful yet spell binding classic touch, and M&S (Ricky Morrison & Fran Sidoli) who contribute two blazin' truly mesmerizing dub versions fueled with enticing keys over vibrant rhythms.
